This 3-minute read from the Jerusalem Post explores Israel’s move towards progressive Judaism. A recent report form the The Jewish People Policy Institute found that while only some 12,000 citizens are members of a progressive synagogue, there are in fact 800,000 Israelis who identify as Conservative or Reform. That’s 13% of Jewish Israelis! With a growing percentage of citizens pushing for non-Orthodox options for lifecycle events and prayer at holy sites, pressure is mounting on Israel’s Chief Rabbinate to make some fundamental changes.
