The city where past and present meet. Established over 3,000 years ago, the city of Jerusalem offers you the chance to literally reach out and touch the past. Known as the city of gold, Jerusalem is a magical mix of ancient and modern, where outdoor shuks (markets) rub shoulders with gleaming office towers. The city's most popular spots include a vibrant downtown with world-class restaurants and shopping, and the Old City, a maze of winding alleyways and colorful markets enclosed by walls dating back to the 16th century.

Garin Tzabar is a unique program, founded in 1991 and run by Tzofim Tzabar Olami, with the support of the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption, The Prime Minister of Israel's office, The Social Security Department, The Jewish Agency For Israel and Masa Israel Journey. Garin Tzabar members are Jewish Americans and children of Israelis living in the Diaspora who choose to move to Israel and serve in the IDF. Upon their arrival in Israel, the group is adopted by the Israel Scouts and placed in a hosting kibbutz, whichquickly becomes their home away from home throughout the duration of their army service. Garin Tzabar creates a group framework of guidance and support for young Jews and Israelis living abroad who choose to return to Israel or make Aliyah for the first time in order to serve a full and meaningful service in the IDF. This is done by a mental and emotional preparation process that starts in the countries of origin and continues with their arrival to Israel and their absorption into the Kibbutzim, Israeli society and through the processes of military pretrial recruitment. The core of the program is carried out during their military service where they continue to live as a group and receive from the group constant guidance and support.

Hevruta Gap-Year Program invites Israelis and North Americans to establish a joint community founded on discourse and values in the heart of Jerusalem. The program is open to young men and women from all over Israel and North America, from religious and secular backgrounds, who represent a variety of worldviews. Hevruta’s goal is to demonstrate how a community that celebrates learning and social engagement can promote tolerant dialogue in the Jewish world by generating a positive identity discourse based on shared aims and beliefs.

Hevruta operates according to three guiding principles – learning, social engagement, and community life. Graduates of the program acquire skills that support leadership, meaningful discourse and social engagement, which will go on to serve them as they address some of the most significant challenges facing the Jewish People today – whether in the context of their military service, higher education, or professional life.

Learning at Hevruta includes both classic and modern Jewish texts that introduce participants to the diversity and richness of Jewish tradition and intellectual history. Learning serves as a point of departure for participants to explore beyond the gates of the Hartman Institute, as they blend into Jerusalem’s unique fabric and volunteer with civil society organizations and social movements to contribute to their society and local community.

Hevruta is based in Jerusalem and the city plays a key role in the program. Our location affords participants access to the heart of Jewish history, exposing them to the many complexities – including religious, socioeconomic and intellectual diversity – that characterize Jerusalem. Jerusalem also serves as a laboratory in which the essential challenges facing the Jewish people as a society and as a nation can be closely examined.

Aardvark Israel's unique high-tech program provides its students with a professional coding course while getting hands-on experience through interning at Israeli Start-Ups. The students live in local apartments with other students from all around the world, in Aardvark Israel's gap year. They will get to travel the country on a weekly basis, live independently, go out and build strong, long-lasting relationships. The program's graduates will gain professional and personal development which will prepare them for their next chapter in life as young adults.

You will create new relationships and grow personally and professionally, in a life-changing experience. There are additional options to add-on special interest programs and international trips to really customize your Gap Year/ Semester experience.

IBC is a gap year program which provides a great balance of education, meaning, challenges and fun. After 17 years and functioning under the umbrella of Tlalim, IBC have expertise in operating effective and special programs. Participants are exposed to a range of learning opportunities, tours, hikes, experiences and more in order to feel Israel from an Israeli lens, simultaneously engaging in a process of personal growth and Jewish identity.

The program structure is dynamic and comfortable, giving participants the smoothest platform to get to know different areas of the country while working on their personal growth, group cohesion and their professional development. For a unique program and unrivalled experience, this is the program for you.

In the first 5 months, living locations include Jerusalem and independent leaving.

In the independent leaving part, participants are given a monthly stipend to budget, shop and cook for themselves, as well as facilities to live independently.

The program has 4 modules:

Sherut Leumi

Sherut Leumi is a program of social service, which gives young people the opportunity to work voluntarily in the sectors of society that need it the most. The participants will be able to choose their volunteering program within the areas of health, education and welfare.

Israel Engagement

A space where different topics related to the Israeli-Arab conflict, politics and current affairs are covered. With weekly encounters in the form of talks or trips where the events take place, we will provide training with professionals so the participants can analyze, understand and reach their own conclusions regarding the Israeli society and the Middle East in general.

Courses and Seminars

We offer a series of seminars and courses ranging in topics of leadership and entrepreneurship that are designed to inspire participants about their future after the program.

Fun and Adventure

Participants will get to explore the most beautiful natural landscapes that Israel has to offer and enjoy a wide range day trips, hikes, nature reserves, historical sites and a unique window into other communities and cultures.

Known as the greenest city in Israel, Ramat Gan is a hidden oasis outside the rush of Tel Aviv. Among being home to Bar-Ilan University and Tel Hashomer, Israel’s largest hospital, Ramat Gan also hosts a National Park, Safari,the diamond district and the Stock Exchange.
