Program Description

Yeshivat Hamivtar is a Yeshiva for students over twenty years old, and for more than thirty years has helped students grow in Torah learning and religious practice. Hamivtar shiurim focus on imparting the textual skills that enable a lifetime of learning. The yeshiva combines intellectual openness with passionate commitment. Rabbeim utilize warmth and good humor and offer the students a good deal of personal attention. 
 
The yeshiva is Zionist and believes in the value of a broader Torah and general education. The mornings are dedicated to Talmud, while the afternoons and evenings include classes on Chumash, Halacha and Jewish Philosophy. The yeshiva also offers two levels of Ulpan.
 
In addition, the year also incorporates tiyulim to various parts of Israel, special seminars on topics of contemporary Jewish relevance and chessed projects.The yeshiva is part of YU Joint Israel program, which can help with receiving college credit. There is also a kollel of fellows studying for ordination who are available to learn with the help the yeshiva students. Most of the students have at least one individual chavruta with the rebbe each week and some have several.
