A Voyage to Medicine in Israel is a one semester study abroad program for pre-med and other health/science students, run by Tel Aviv University and Assaf Harofeh Medical Center. We offer you a unique combination of seven academic courses in medicine, practical experience in the medical field, and shadowing the medical staff clinical research at the medical center.
The program provides an opportunity to gain experience in one of Tel Aviv area's finest hospitals and its medical institutions, under the tutelage of expert physicians in the field. The medical facilities which make up Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, an 800-bed academic hospital, serve a broad spectrum of ethnic origins, cultural backgrounds and socio-economic levels of the Israeli population.
Seven Academic Courses in Medicine include health & psychology, contemporary medicine, sport medicine and more, taught by exceptional professors/doctors and leading experts in the field. You will receive a TAU International transcript. See course descriptions here!
Practical Experience in the Medical Field will expose you to emergency medicine and includes two courses:
1) First Aid course with Magen David Adom, an organization that provides emergency services, including medical, disaster, ambulance and blood services.
2) Trauma Life Support course at the Israeli Medical Corps, and volunteering on an ambulance.
Introduction to Clinical Research at Assaf Harofeh Hospital, an academic medical center affiliated with Tel Aviv University, which provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art care to a diverse population. You will introduce to the medical research in the department of your choice, under a departmental physician’s guidance.
In addition, you will have educational and cultural tours, trips throughout Israel, Hebrew-language course, meetings with Israeli peers and other students from all over the world and exploring the Tel Aviv nightlife. The program is conducted in English.
