The Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies brings together men and women of all backgrounds to study classic Jewish texts and current Jewish issues in an open, warm and challenging learning environment.
Located in Jerusalem, the Pardes experience goes beyond the beit midrash (study hall) and students have the opportunity to explore Israel, celebrate Shabbat and festivals as part of a dynamic community and participate in various social action projects.
Pardes is a non-denominational institution, and diversity is an important part of our learning and mission. At the same time, we are rooted in tradition and Pardes as an institution acts in accordance with halakha (Jewish law).
The Pardes Year/Semester Program is an intensive post-college program that combines classic Jewish text study with the exploration of ethical, spiritual, philosophical, legal and societal issues facing the Jewish people today. Students participate in seminar-style classes and havruta (partner study), and can create a tailored program to reflect their interests. Classes include Talmud, Bible, Jewish Philosophy, Modern Jewish History, and more.
There are also six Specialty Tracks offered as part of the Year Program:
-Social Justice
-Self, Soul & Text
-Peace & Conflict
-Foundations of Judaism
-Pre-Rabbinic track
-New! Jewish Educators track
