In 1983, Nerlitz was founded to give French-speaking women of University age the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of Judaism, gain pride in their Jewish identity, and strengthen their ties to Israel and Jewish people. During their year in Jerusalem, the students study Torah, Jewish Philosophy and Ethics, Laws and Customs, and Jewish History with emphasis on the modern era. They also gain competence in spoken Hebrew through their Ulpan studies.
Nerlitz is located on the beautifully landscaped Neve Yerushalayim campus. Students are housed in a campus dormitory and three freshly cooked meals are provided daily by Neve’s dining facility. The atmosphere both in and out of the classroom is warm and caring. The school is under the devoted guidance of Rabbi & Mrs. Moshe Ackermann, experienced French educators.
